Retargeted MetaHuman Animation Sequence does not appear in Sequencer Body Animation list (UE 5.6 & 5.8)

Hello,

I have been trying to use a retargeted animation on a MetaHuman in Sequencer, but I am completely stuck.

I tested this in both UE 5.6 and UE 5.8, and the behavior is exactly the same.

Steps to reproduce
Create a new Third Person project.
Create a MetaHuman using the built-in MetaHuman Creator (I used one of the preset characters).
Assemble the MetaHuman.
Open the IK Retargeter.
Use Manny as the source and the MetaHuman as the target.
Select MM_Idle and export it using Selected Export Animations.
A new Animation Sequence is successfully created.
Verification
The retarget preview works correctly.
Manny and the MetaHuman both move correctly in the IK Retargeter preview.
The exported asset is an Animation Sequence.
The exported Animation Sequence uses metahuman_base_skel.
My MetaHuman body mesh also uses the same metahuman_base_skel.
The problem

When I open Sequencer:

Add the MetaHuman Blueprint (or even just the Skeletal Mesh body).
Add Body → Animation.

The exported animation does not appear in the animation picker.

If I drag the exported Animation Sequence from the Content Browser into the Body Animation track:

I get the “not allowed” cursor (red dashed rectangle).
Releasing the mouse creates a new Skeletal Mesh track instead of assigning the animation to the MetaHuman Body.

I also tested using only the Skeletal Mesh (not the Blueprint), and the result is exactly the same.

Things I have already verified
Retargeting works correctly.
Preview animation works.
Export succeeds.
Animation type is Animation Sequence.
Skeleton is metahuman_base_skel.
Body mesh uses the same skeleton.
Same issue in UE 5.6 and UE 5.8.

Is there any additional requirement for Sequencer to recognize exported MetaHuman Animation Sequences?

Or is there a known issue with the current MetaHuman workflow?

Thank you.
