Retargeted Animation Imported from MotionBuilder is Under Floor Waist Down

Hey Unreal Developers,

Sorry for the long and elaborated title. I have a weird problem, and I can’t seem to figure it out.

Here’s what I did:

  • Did a motion capture and applied the animation to UE4 Mannequin skeleton.
  • Imported the FBX to UE4 and chose the UE4 Mannequin skeleton.
  • When I play/open the UE4 mannequin animation, it looks fine.
  • But after I retarget the animation for a different character, it does play the animation, but my retargeted character goes under the floor waist down o.O

Any idea what might be causing this? I am not sure if the issue is on my MotionBuilder file or my retargeting settings.

In case anyone else has this same problem, I figured out the solution. My animation files were fine, but my retargeting was a bit off. I was mapping the root bone to the wrong target. After targeting it to the right bone, it solved the issue
