Summary
After successfully restoring my map via epic support after data loss on my PC, I always get a network connection lost error after playing for about 1 hour on my map. Also other player see the same error. Other maps are working fine at the same time, even other maps from me which hasn’t been restored never got any error so it has to be something with the restored map. The restore process which i send below worked fine so i got my map back after downloading and was able to do everything like I did before.
Steps to Reproduce
Open UEFN
In the projects browser, find the project you are looking for. If it was a personal project it will be under “My Projects” in the dropdown and if it is a team project it’ll be under the relevant team
Once you locate it, select it and click “Sync” to sync and open it
Once you have it open you should see that the project is likely in the state of the empty initial template you started with.
Close UEFN
Open your Fortnite projects folder to one side of your screen
Locate the folder for the project and go inside it.
Inside it you should see a .urc folder, a .urcignore file, a Plugins folder, and a .uefnproject file
Delete ONLY the Plugins folder and the .uefnproject file as these are the ones we’ll be replacing
Download the zip from WeTransfer here:
Extract the zip to your downloads and open the extracted folder to the other side of your screen so that the two are side-by-side as it may get confusing which is which
Locate the Plugins folder and the .uefnproject file in the extracted package
Drag or copy/paste those two over inside the project folder where you removed the other Plugins and .uefnproject file
Right-click inside folder and click “Refresh” to ensure all is saved/up-to-date for UEFN to read from
Open UEFN again
Locate the project in the projects panel again and open it. If it doesnt show up in the projects panel, use the “Browse” function to find the .uefnproject file that you copied into the project folder within your Fortnite Projects folder
NOTE: Once you open the project, if you get any warnings that another version of the project exists and whether you want to create a new copy, DO NOT do this, let me know and I’ll write you some different steps
If you don’t get any warnings you should now see your project content as you expect (or very close to it)
To ensure everything is set up correctly to be able to launch live sessions, locate your project folder in your content browser, right-click on it, and press “Resave All”
Use the Check-in Changes button toward the bottom right of your screen to save a snapshot to revision control, so that you are backed up.
Now your project should be in a state where it is properly backed up and you can iterate on it again.
