Restore Inventory from Save Device after Spectate

Summary

If a player is put into spectate mode and then is respawned and a save point device is used to restore the players inventory after the player is reactivated it loads the inventory based on the players configured preferred slots in game options, not how the loadout was saved in the save device.

Steps to Reproduce

Put the player in a 2v2 match with DBNO, save their inventory. Down the player, then eliminate them. They go to spectate other player on their team (if spawn limit is set properly). Then Respawn the agent and restore their previously saved inventory. The inventory is reloaded based on game options-preferred item slots, not the way inventory was saved in the save device.

Expected Result

Inventory to be restored exactly as it was saved in the save device.

@Velociter999 I think that would be moreso a feature request rather than a bug report. The ability for a creator to decide whether to override a player’s preferred loadout slots when granting items.

Technically if the player had them in those slots when it was saved, why not restore them to same slots? SAVING your loadout should go into the same slots it was SAVED in on the Restore. My game people are complaining cause their inventory is moving around.

Tell them to set the preferred slots in the main Fortnite settings. I did this for br and its the best thing ever everything always auto sets.

I understand what your saying but this seems like a low level thing in my humble opinion. We have devices not working ect so i think you could be waiting a while for this :frowning:. Having said that i do agree when it loads it should be like for like so i will vote but i think you’ll have to put a request in as its not technically a bug as its loading.

Depending on how many items ect you could make a custom system but i dnt know if you can select a slot either way.

I may resort to telling them to turn OFF auto-sort inventory. Sorting inventory is what causes the problem, people play 1v1 or 2v2 maps differently than BR. AR’s don’t get used a lot and get replaced with a Utility or Consumable item. And if you have two consumable items configured and you place a grapple in one and a health item in another they may flip flop, and when you go to use your grapple in slot 4 and it flopped over to slot 5 on the reset between zones it SUCKS. This is the most common issue cause grapples are consumables not utility items. I play the game on stream with people and they ALWAYS complain about it. Turning OFF auto sort and turning OFF moving consumables to right seems to work.

So again if a players inventory gets saved a certain way in a save point device it should be restored the same way. And I have talked to many players and people say this issue exists in a lot of maps and they think it’s a creative bug. If the player base thinks its a bug…is it?

I would be more than happy to write a custom system, but we have no access to what is in each slot. We can determine if they have an item, but not where it is. Anyone have any ideas that I am not aware of?

So I turned OFF both Inventory Auto Sort and move Consumables to right. I had 2 weapons, and three consumable items. If I exhaust one consumable item on the reset it goes back into same spot. If I exhaust all consumables, all 5 items are shifted to new slots on the reset. So instead of reloading from the save device with some sort of logic, it just randomly restores items. :face_with_monocle:

I dont know how it works it out tbh but i agree it should save/load like for like. I know there is some new things with ui widgets that get items in slots ect but i dnt think its past that nothing to my knowledge lets you get/set slots.

After you explained i sorta get the reasoning now and it makes total sense why you want this. If i were you i would create a post on the requests forums as this will not be seen as a bug i think but either way ill vote as this would be better for sure and tbh until i read your post i thought it save/loaded in the same slots by default
