*Resolved* 3DS Max | UE 5.1 | FreeCamera animated export/import | ERROR Can't detect import type. No mesh is found or animation track

Hello, I can’t find any solution to my problem on the forum yet this has been asked for a few times and nothing seems to make it work.

I have a really simple need :
Export a free Camera animated on a few frames from 3DS max to UE 5.1.

I can’t find any way to import it with its animation into UE5.1 ! It never has its frames animation with the Datasmith import.

I tried with a simple FBX export (version 2012 to version 2020, binary and ASCII). Everytime I try to import the FBX of my FreeCamera it pops an error : "Can’t detect import type. No mesh is found or animation track. ".

Any one has been through this case and found any solution please?

Found a solution to do it.

Although it seemed logical to export from 3dsmax and import it back into UE with a drag n drop or with Datasmith. The process is different.

1.Export in FBX from 3dsmax. Nothing new here.

Things change here. To have your camera and its animation.

Inside UE5.1 :

2.Create a sequence
3.Open the sequencer
4.Actions (in the toolbar, look for a “Flat key tool”)
5.Import…
6.Pick your fbx camera
7.Enjoy your animated camera
