Residuals shooting off into the distance

Hi,

I am having a weird issue with residuals where they would shoot off into the distance and converge onto a single point far from the scene.

The model itself looks fine alignment wise and nothing seems to indicate that there is a misalignment or incorrect process.

What does this mean with such long residuals?

Hi shootboiz,

which coordinate system did you used in your project? It is possible, that images have different coordinate system as your control points.

Hi. Were you able to figure out what was wrong? I have a similar issue where almost all my cameras have these long residual lines shooting off into the distance. This didn’t happen until a few alignments ago. The previous few components don’t have this issue. Only the latest one. Running realignment doesn’t help either. I have 345 control points across the building to tie it all together.

Hi Ankush,
can you show there some print screen of your project? Are you using georeferenced images? Are you using also GCPs in your project? Do you see red or yellow triangles next to the control points in 1Ds view? If so, can you delete those measurements?
Also, 345 control points is quite too much. Do you need all of them? Are you capturing only the exterior or also the interior of the building?

Hey Ondrej. Thank you so much for your reply. I ended up manually removing GPS exif data from all the images and realigned. Now the issue is gone. Despite having explicitly told RC not to use GPS priors for alignment, it was still doing that.

Solved now.

Thanks again.
