Requesting some help with a laptop and ue4

So I am looking for some advice about a laptop that I intend on running UE4 with. I’ve moved away from any city and I live mostly off grid with access to power that can allow me to charge my laptop throughout so that’s not an issue. I can get about 6hrs a day for 4 days a week without an issue with the laptop mentioned below.

I saw a friend mentioning a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (7567) with the following specs:

  • i7 7700HQ
  • 16gb RAM
  • GTX 1050 Ti 6gb
  • SSD + HDD

I want to hear from any of you that have run UE4 on similar laptop specs or worse specs, I know that it should be fine, and run OK but I just want to get a little feedback first, or if anyone has this laptop specifically that would be amazing to hear from you. It’s currently going to set me back about £1,100.

So you can see why I don’t want to just buy it and figure it out.

I know the screen sucks on this, but I will replace that for about £28 without an issue. I’d like to hear your thoughts on how it will perform or if you have used something worse than this that performs just fine maybe?

Perhaps I am over thinking this?

I use a similar machine on my day job.
The performance won’t brake any records, but is thoroughly acceptable. The cooling solution is efficient as the machine is able to retain its turbo clocks even doing stressful stuff such as compiling lighting.

However… You’ve mentioned you’ll be living off grid, right? While the battery life is half-decent on this thing doing light stuff, it’ll tank like a block of cement going down a lake using Unreal. I can barely take it to two hours. You should take that into consideration.

Yeah, I’ve seen some tests with gaming going from the amazing battery life to much less… Honestly, if I can get it to run for 3hrs I am happy enough but I shouldn’t have much of an issue getting some good weekly usage out of things until a little later in the year, but I have something planned that should help that.
