A large percentage android phones out there are 32 bit still with Android Go even with 64 bit processors, and there’s still a lot of 32 bit androids out there, I bought a brand new £80 Moto E14 phone from a major retailer to test if my game runs on a android normal people might have, and it doesn’t install! " This application is not compatible with this phone. "
Its a 8 core 1.6ghz 64 bit processor, running 32 bit Android Go for optimization sake, got Mali-G57 gpu and 6.5 inch screen. It reports to have Android 14 with the latest features. My game is low polly 2.5D it has a goblin throwing a physics grapple, it uses less than 2GB of ram and I can run the debug symbols and compress everything the make it 50mb size, but Unreal doesnt support armeabi-v7a. So what, I go back to unreal 4.27 (when it was last supported)? Im downloading it now.
Is there any chance you can support it again? Even with some features removed or extra steps building from source. I just really want to use 5 but I want my game to be accessible, I optimized every asset to tiny poly count and made it as efficient as i could for low spec devices, and find out some wont be able to run it, and I cant test my android build with this hardware (can do ios). I understand games like Fortnite aren’t gonna run without 4gbs of ram but what about mobile-first games that optimize for mobile from the ground up and target lower device specs especially for huge missed audiences in developing countries.
