TLDR; better support for Track/touchpad in Windows 10/11, which has built in support for gesturing/advanced gestures. (Mac already has enhanced support for their Trackpad.)
Hey folks! I’d love to see:
- Tap with two fingers to right click" to work with dragging in UE5, so you rotating the viewport camera. Unfortunately as it is right now, for right clicks, you have to use the bottom right of the touchpad and make sure you have the gesture setup for it in Windows, which is unintuitive and cumbersome for folks who use touchpads. Two finger tap is way more convenient.
- The same as above, but for other gestures to be able to drag; e.g, three or four finger tap which can be set to emulate middle mouse button in Windows gesture configuration. The Editor doesn’t seem to respond to these, and even if it did, presumably, it would be the same as above, as in, it wouldn’t allow dragging.
As mentioned above, In Windows, you can setup your touchpad up to use this option, and for three, four finger taps, but for some reason it doesn’t translate to the UE5. To be super clear the:
- two finger tap does initiate a right click, but you can not subsequently drag.
- three/four finger tap does not seem to do anything
(I have my four finger setup for middle mouse; but three finger for something unrelated; image just for clarity.)
It’s also possible I’m missing some option configuration in preferences; but I couldn’t find anything!
A related aside: Seems like it has the settings for it in UE5 for Mac; but I’m not sure if it’s actually pertaining to the exact situation I’m referencing, with how different Mac’s pointer device configuration is.
Although this references magic trackpad; the feature request would be for any trackpad; as the gesture / click handling is the same.
