I quite like the way the import setting are displayed in the mesh viewers but if I were to accidently have rocket “calculate normals” when I wanted to “import normals” on import I would have to open the mesh in the viewer, change the import settings and then reimport (that also applies if I was just testing smoothing groups), so I think it would be better if I could just right click on the asset, click import and then be able to choose to import/calculate normals, I don’t think there would be a need for any other options because textures and materials…ect wouldn’t change anyway.
Hi ,
So to be clear on your request, you would like for the Right-click “Reimport” option to provide the “Import Options” window again so that you can customize your initial import settings, is that correct?
yes but not all of it, just the normals options (calculate normals/ import normals/ import normal and tangents).
Okay, I will report your request. Thanks.
I also wanted to let you know that a “Reimport” button has been recently added (internally, but not in your current Rocket version) inside of the StaticMesh editor. So that will also help with the workflow.
In the mesh details in the static mesh editor you can already view and change the import settings. You can also change the tangent import method and rebuild the mesh without reimporting .
Hi ,
This was a question posted by a tester quite a while ago. If you see any posts with the name “UE4-archive” then they may refer to issues that have been resolved. These were brought in to the answerhub so that known issues could be looked up by users. In this case, it’s a feature request that was implemented before release.
Cheers!
