REQUEST: Reduced anticheat mode for UEFN development

Allow launching the Fortnite game in “Development” mode which only allows testing UEFN maps and private playtests with relaxed anticheat requirements, and has limited social features.

on Windows, this might entail just allowing virtualization (which is common on development machines) or switching to non kernel mode implementation entirely.

On future LInux version, this entails allowing UAC 1.0 for broader distribution support, and temporarily removes requirements for TPM/Secure Boot etcwhile in the develoopment mode.

Playing on anticheat protected servers (non-uefn development maps) is blocked and requires restarting the game in full mode

i am requesting this as i mainly use Linux, including for UEFN development but its annoying to look for a device that can actually run the game every time, or having to resort to cloud gaming.

I would like to run it in Proton, virtual machine with kvm + gpu passthrough or on Linux natively once the Linux version releases but cannot meet the anticheat requirements without rebooting into Windows even through i don’t play any competitive games, and only need access to my single player UEFN development island.

I have good news for you, in case you didn’t know Easy Anti Cheat V2 is coming to linux which will make Fortnite compatible to supported distros

Fortnite is coming to Linux on the Launcher

To bring Fortnite to Linux, we are rebuilding Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) and working with distro maintainers on security requirements. Once it’s working with a critical mass of distro maintainers, we’ll bring Fortnite to Linux via the Epic Games Launcher.

We’ll also make these improvements available to other developers so they can bring their games to Linux players. For more info on our work to expand EAC support across Linux, check out the tech blog we published today.
