Request: Python Editor Scripting / UEFN MCP Access for OpenAI Codex

UEFN Python Editor Scripting / MCP Access Request

Hi Epic team,

I’m trying to use the official Unreal MCP integration in UEFN with OpenAI Codex.

According to Epic’s current UEFN MCP documentation, the project should expose the following settings:

  • Python Editor Scripting

  • UEFN MCP Toolsets

The Model Context Protocol preferences should also provide an Auto Start Server option.

On my installation, those options are not available.

Under:

Edit → Editor Preferences → Model Context Protocol

I can see:

  • Server URL Path: /mcp

  • Server Port Number: 8000

  • Enable Tool Search

However, there is no Auto Start Server setting.

I also do not have the expected project settings for:

  • Python Editor Scripting

  • UEFN MCP Toolsets

  • Beta Access related to these features

My goal is to connect OpenAI Codex to UEFN through Epic’s official MCP implementation for editor-side automation, Verse development, scene inspection, device configuration, and testing.

Could you please confirm whether Python Editor Scripting / UEFN MCP Toolsets currently require account-level access, allow-listing, staged rollout eligibility, or another activation process?

If access must be enabled manually, I would like to request that access for my Epic account.

Environment:

  • OS: Windows 11

  • UEFN: 6.0.0

  • Fortnite release: 42.10

  • Epic display name: VictoryOrValhalla

  • MCP client: OpenAI Codex

The MCP configuration page itself is present, but the settings required by the official documentation are missing.

Thank you.
