One thing i always loved about Maya was the way you can switch from one view to another. Just hitting Space to get into the 4 views mode, than hovering the mouse over another viewport (for instance the top one) and hitting Space again to maximize the viewport where your cursor is located.
I think this could really speed up the workflow, especially when it comes to blocking out levels.
Hi Christian,
As a fellow Maya user I too have often found myself pressing Spacebar trying to switch views. I have entered your feature request, with at minimum a request for a Keyboard Shortcut to toggle the 4-panel view
In the meantime, there are a few editable shortcuts you may find useful to jump directly to the different views (these are editable in Editor Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts):
- Alt-H = Front view
- Alt-G = Perspective view
- Alt-K = Side view
- Alt-J = Top view
Regards,
Thanks for filling in the request Stephen. You guys did a great job!
Looks like I am a 6 years late here, but it works now.
You can switch viewports with spacebar.
All you need to do is :
- go to “Editor preferences”
- Search for “Maximize viewport” shortcut key.
- Change it to “Space”
