Friends are a VITAL part of the fortnite ecosystem, And servers filling up can cause friends of players to be unable to join down the line.
There could be different ways this can be solved but in other platforms you can set how many “player slots” will be reserved where the matchmaker won’t try to fill.
E.g. If an experience has 16 MAX Players and you set it to reserve 4 Player Slots when a game is made at the start there will be 12 players and the only way for it to go above that is for friends of players inside to join In-Progress.
In the picture below, is how this works in a different platform. You write the Absolute max a server will let in, Then on “Social Slots” you can let the platform dynamically adjust how many slots will be reserved.
Alternatively you can select the Disable option which will reserve no social slots where the platform will warn you against using it
And lastly it lets you set how many slots should be reserved
Another Option that ties a bit to this topic would be updating the Round Settings Device, Currently if you disable matchmaking it FULLY DISABLES the ability for anyone to join in progress including people’s friends and hides the “Join Game” button from peoples profiles who are playing the game while this is a good way for games where you definetely dont want players to join mid-game like trying to find a new bedwars game without it queueing you into a mid-game one. It would be good to still let friends of players to join even to spectate.
Just adding the ability to fully disable matchmaking would be more than good and then the other matchmaking options will just be used to prevent people queueing for a new game to be placed into the current one
