Hello,
Especially with the addition in In-Island Transactions and the popularity of Community events - I think the UEFN team should look into allowing certain variables from an Island to be exposed to the Creator Portal so that they can be updated without a full re-build of an island.
For example, users could click on their active build in the Portal and see ‘Online Options’ such as ‘Event’ which they could define in-engine (maybe just a data layer swap). Or they could see the prices they’ve set for In-Island Transactions.
Creators could use the same build to run new events or promos, item sales, etc. without needing to have them set up before hand and timed accordingly.
Creators could run live polls on social media, asking what events they want to see return, or what item promo they want to see over the weekend, and the creator could give it to them from their mobile phone, without having to open UEFN.
After a creator has pushed an ‘Online Options’ change, active servers begin to timeout, while any new servers spinning up their island would contain the changes.
Considering the Fortnite economy is becoming more Live Operations focused, it makes sense to begin offering the same config tools LiveOps projects on iOS or Android use.
Thanks for reading.
