I’ve seen a lot of discussion and questions from confused users about what the “Personal” license actually means. Although there is an explicit explanation when you click on “Select license,” many people still question it.
Could we simply rename it to something more intuitive like “Standard,” “Indie,” or “Commercial”?
Yes, and “Professional” to “Studio”.
FAB should also raise the 100k to 1 million for Professional licenses, just like Unreal Engine already has for years. Its current requirement of 100k is so low that solo indie devs in western country already count as being obliged to buy a Professional license.
I agree on the need of renaming in a clearer way, but imo “Standard” would generate confusion again as the license itself is called “Standard”. Then, if the personal tier would be renamed to standard tier people would be confused again.
I’ve seen several time people confused by both tier names here in the forum and on different socials. Typically some people associate the word “personal” to “not-commercial” which is wrong, some others associate the word “professional” to “pro”, aka something with more features and support which is not the case.
