REQUEST: A way to modify item stats.

A way to modify an item’s stats would be SUCH an awesome feature to have. Let me elaborate:

This could be a UEFN feature or just a device so even Creative 1.0 users could use this. If it would be a device for example; you’d drop an item or a weapon into it and the device’s settings change based on what stats the item has. This device would just override the item’s stats and not make a new version of it. Here’s some stats that could be changed with it:

GENERAL:

  • Item Display Name
  • Item Description
  • Item Rarity
  • Maybe even the icon

WEAPONS:

  • Damage
  • Critical Damage Multiplier
  • Structure Damage
  • Fire Rate
  • Magazine Size
  • Reload Time
  • Weapon Specific Stat (For example Flint-Knock Pistols would have Knockback Amount if possible to implement)
  • What ammo does it use?
  • An option to make it infinite ammo.
  • Other weapon stats like bloom, accuracy, etc.

ITEMS:

  • Time of Use
  • Max Stack Size
  • Item Specific Stat (For example Grenades would have Damage)
  • An option to make it infinite use.
  • A cooldown option if infinite use is on.

HOW WOULD THIS FEATURE BE USEFUL?

  • You can make personalized weapons for bosses. Allowing to change the name for a custom one if it’s something like “Skye’s Assault Rifle“ and adding your boss’ name to it.
  • Allowes creators to make their own rarity variants of items that may not be in the game.
  • Allowes creators to tweak items and weapons to their liking or to fit their map more.
  • Allowes creators to change item descriptions to fit their map more. For example the Key item’s description talks about “being on the look out for lock icons on your map” but this could be confusing for players if the Key is used for something different.

Agreed, and most of those are most likely already on the roadmap, if I’m not mistaken we already can change names in the Custom Items Experimental already if I’m not mistaken.

(We can’t pre-edit them but we can access the item_details_component that’s inside the entity and change the name and description)

And I assume when this feature releases

We might get other components that allow us to further customize them by changing max ammo stats etc.
