Removing Foliage On Item Placement In-Game

Is it possible (I’m sure it is, I’m just uneducated) to remove certain foliage from underneath parts that are placed into the world by the player? I have a dirt layer I’d like to use underneath items when they’re placed and the grass removed. It would also have to check to not remove trees since they’re foliage as well. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I havent done it personally but will look into it in the future. The way im going to try is to interact with foliage on placement. So you show your typical “ghost” material when selecting placement and then when the player places it, do a collision sphere check around the object and destroy the grass instances under it.
