Remix Royale: Small-Scale BR with a retro theme!

[!] See comments section for updates [!]

The replacement for my earlier attempt at creating a Battle Royale map (32 Player Battle Royale Island), Remix Royale is well under way.

Remix Royale is a 32-player small-scale Battle Royale island that is made with some of the best parts of Chapters 1-3. The locations, weapons, items, and (planned-to-be) NPC’s will be a remix of the pre-chapter 4 seasons.

The overall layout of the island I have designed myself, but the locations are all based on elements from Chapters 1-3. Some of the POI’s are near-exact replicas of past locations, such as Tilted Towers, Condo Canyon, and Command Cavern; others more loosely resemble their BR counterparts like Steamy Stacks, Sanctuary, and Shifty Shafts. Still others are my own modifications to old locations like Dusty Docks, which is a shipping dock built around a Dusty Depot warehouse. There are several other in-between buildings and structures that some players may or may not recognize from the old Chapters as well.

The lootpool will contain a mixture of weapons from chapter 1-3 and will also not use any weapons from the current official season. Loot will be distributed as usual on the ground and in chests, but I may also include “keyboxes” (my own version of holo-chests which work basically the same) and vaults so long as they work as intended. Vending machines and NPC’s will also offer goods through purchase using gold coins, which will be obtained from looting chests and getting eliminations. I am also planning on including vaulted vehicles such as the airplane.

I am attempting to add my own unique features to my island using UEFN’s advanced capabilities. I have figured out how to build tunnels and caves that mesh seamlessly with the surrounding terrain and offer full functionality. I am also working on a Battle Bus that actually flies over the island and drops players when they wish.

how did you make such a seamless desert?

For the blending of the desert region to the rest of the map, I used a large smooth tool setting (1,000 I think) to blend the grass and sand. In regards to the cliffs, I made a bunch of crude plateaus with the landscape tool, then used modular terrain pieces from the “Modular Rock Gallery Arid 1” and “2” to cover up the gray cliffs that exist behind them. Then I polished a few small areas with small raise/lower and smooth tools to hide any remaining gray cliffsides.

Omg, that looks so awesome!! I really wanna play it now, I can’t wait. It all looks so great and I like the thought that went into making the POIs and the map in general. Hopefully I see when you publish it!

Hopefully I can finish it sometime. I’m a one-man-show so progress has been slow, I had to take a break for a while, but I’m trying to get back into it now that a few things have been updated. I may have to cut a few things out, or enlarge the map, as memory is a little high in some spots. But for now I’m just trying to place a ton of lootchests.

[!] Progress Update as of 1/31/24 [!]

Since my initial post some time ago, I have started running UEFN on a more powerful PC than I was using before, allowing me to resume work on my island. It is almost at a minimally playable state, meaning that hopefully, I can begin multiplayer playtesting with some of my Fortnite friends.

Changes include:

  • Loot chests added to most of the map (200+ so far) with a unique lootpool that actually respects item rarities (meaning that it’s harder to find a legendary item than a rare item, a feature most custom lootpools lack)
  • Vending machines added
  • Repositioning of the Condo Canyon, Dusty Docks, and Steamy Stacks locations for better memory usage and subsequent remodeling of the nearby terrain, which has also resulted in an expansion to the forest region
  • Updated power pylons to resemble their Chapter 2 versions including zipline wires for movement (still working out a few kinks in the ziplines though)

hello dear

Wow, this looks incredible! :fire:

I wish I had the computing power to create maps on such a grand scale.

Nonetheless, I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing the final result in the future.
Best of luck to you! :crossed_fingers:

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback!

[!] Progress Update as of 4/1/2024 [!]

Hear are some of my newest changes to my island:

  • Major improvements made to the jungle and desert regions such as improved terrain, additional buildings, and extra cover like trees and rocks
  • Condo Canyon POI expanded to include the houses across the river.
  • New hidden location added: The Foxhole, inhabited by guards and a boss that drops a mythic weapon upon elimination.
  • Power pylon ziplines now fully functional.
  • New HUD notifications when entering POI’s.
