Same . 4.22 plugin doesn’t work at all. Says wrong engine version after enabling on fresh install of UE 4.22 in a default project, then asks to rebuild, and crashes during that.
Can confirm that, 4.22 plugin Installer for Binary Distribution crashes the editor when assigning a sequence to sequence actor, also i am getting white squares for icons for all true sky editor assets, and the sequence editor UI seems messed up,
For crash report i was getting a bunch of “has been optimized away” errors. ill post them if it helps.
Is it possible yet to get to render fog over translucent materials? I’m still using 4.1, because I’m afraid of stability problems with 4.2, and I didn’t need the additional features. Is working in 4.2?
If is never going to be possible, then needs to be able to be used with UE4’s fog systems. For example, by rendering behind all geometry and fog. Is possible?
Is there any workaround or any hope to fix ?
Plugin is not working for engine version 4.22 Binary Distribution (missing modules for True Sky plugin). Please fix the asap …
In the 4.2 version updated on April 23, the plug-in of 4.22 is still unavailable. It still hints at the lack of components to be rebuilt. 4.22 version has been released for almost a month. We still don’t have 4.22 plug-ins available. I don’t know why they are so inefficient, and the same problem will be delayed by many versions. For example, 4.22 support, I thought it was. The problem in today’s updated version will be solved, but the fact is that it hasn’t been solved.
There’s way to many bugs to make plugin usable.
- The “TreSkyLight” component often randomly stop working. All shadows randomly turn to almost full black. Sometimes switching the Skylight off/on brings back the shadows lighting but most of the time you have to restart the editor which kind of annonying when it happens every 5 min of work.
- The cloud shadows are totaly offset. They work but doens’t match the actual clouds. The world becomes darker when the sun is not hided by any clouds and is brighter when the sun is behind some big clouds.
4.22.1 has been updated, but we still don’t have a plug-in available. It’s been a month since then.
4.22 is still updated every day, but they haven’t solved even the most basic operational problems, and they don’t seem to know about them. It’s amazing.
4.22 is still updated every day, but they have not solved even the most basic running problems. The plug-in is totally unavailable, either directly using or rebuilding components. They either lack components or collapse, and it seems that they do not know problem. It is amazing.
The download file size and file name seems to be exactly the same with each new 4.22 plugin update, just a new date above it, which is kinda strange. Is the same file just being updated and not new versions?
@michael_simul
Still having no luck with either of the 4.22 binary plugin installers, 4.1a or 4.2. Both still say wrong engine version after enabling in a fresh 4.22 project, and both crash when it asks to rebuild them.
No, they don’t just crash during rebuilding. Even if the plug-in is successfully built using the development version of Unreal Engine 4.22, after entering the project, adding the sky sequence to the sky sequencer will still be stuck for a period of time and then crash.
Same problem over with plugin version 9 (26 Apr) for 4.1a / plugin version 8 (26 Apr) for 4.2.
@michael_simul
Is there an ETA for a fix?
I’m sorry to say , but considering is supposedly one of the “leading sky and weather middleware” options, the support and overall professionalism is pretty shocking.
When the plugin actually works, it is without a doubt, very impressive indeed…when it works. But anyone who has used it will know how unstable it can be. Fine, I accept software has bugs, I’ve been programming for 18 years and I’m well aware of the difficulties involved. But when you are selling your product, the customers deserve to know what’s going on.
From what I can see, there’s no official release notes or announcements and the blog was last updated in October 2018. Forum updates or sporadic at best.
The documentation is generally poor and the last UE4 video tutorial was released four years ago! Adding Ocean systems before fixing the core Sky/Weather system and providing professional documentation is just absurd.
I’m a hobbyist when it comes to making games and every penny I spend on assets/plugins is seriously considered, and I’m sure that goes for a lot of you too.
My experience with /Simul thus far has been extremely disappointing, I honestly expected much better.
Same . Many questions on thread and 99% of them never has an answer.
plugin is one of the most expensive of the UE4 market and is just NOT production ready as too many things just don’t work/lack support and updates.
It looks like the creator has left the boat and the plugin is maintenained by someone else (michael_simul) but doesn’t have much time.
Guys, if you can’t/don’t have time to make a plugin usable in a commercial projet, just don’t sell it as all you do is making people waste time/money.
My thoughts exactly. I normally have red flags when it comes to assets sold outside of the official store, but I figured I’d risk it because of the GDC sale. I’m very disappointed with the way things are currently, and can only recommend potential buyers checking thread to hold off until at least the plug-in doesn’t constantly crash the engine.
Sorry if it’s been unclear, but since setting up the Slack workspace, that’s the place to go for support. thread is fine for community discussion, but if you want a Simul engineer to respond, or even be aware of the problem, you need to speak to Simul. Email to be added to the workspace.
If you have bought a licence and are in any way unhappy with , email for a full refund.
The documentation is being updated. As for bugs, you must report them directly to Simul, either at , or on Slack, and they will be fixed.
ue4 : 4.21.2
: 4.1a ( ue4 4.21.2 binary version )
I found strange bugs working with trueskylight and trueskysequence.
The brightness of the light is automatically adjusted according to the movement of the clouds regardless of the position of the sun.
You can see that the brightness changes from about 15 seconds on the attached image.
How can i prevent the brightness from changing automatically.
And Why can’t change trueskylight intensity?
You should be able to change the TrueSkyLight intensity with the ‘Diffuse Multiplier’ value. As for the other, the video appears to be unavailable, so I’m not too sure what exactly the problem is that you’re describing.
Thanks for clearing that up.
I thought Simul devs had an eye on thread for bug reports since that used to be the case in the past, but I’ll report them via email going forward. But I take it you’re now already aware of the current plugin issues?
We do try to keep an eye on the thread but it’s easy for something to get lost in a forum - that’s why Epic has a separate site for UE bug reporting. If we can do more general discussion but funnel the bug reports direct to Simul there’s much less that an will go unanswered, which no-one wants.
As I understand it, the 4.22 binary version is throwing up errors to do with a version mismatch. We should have a fix in the next couple of days. I’m not aware of any current crashes. So please send these if you have them, with UE version, version, which installer you used if possible.
