[RELEASED] for UE4: Complete Sky and Weather System

Simul website is down ?..

Yes, they switching web hosts. Just need to wait I guess

I downloaded the fork of the engine (4.21) https://github.com/simul/UnrealEngine/tree/4.21 . Build worked without error but I can’t find the plugin in the editor.
Then I downloaded and installed the “Win64 Binaries for UE Source Build” form My Profile - Simul Rebuild the engine and still no plugin.

After doing I notice that in my Engine/plugin/TrueSkyPlugin folder I only have 2 folders, “Source” and “Shaderbin”

Ok there’s definitly somthing wrong with your repo.

folder on the 4.20 branch :

And 4.21 Branch:

Ouh nice i didn’t know that there is a big thread on the …
I applied yesterday for the free 30 day trial of true sky, my biggest problem however is to integrate in my UE4.21 VXGI 2 build. Since building engines is not my strong site, the documentation on the true sky isn’t really helpfull to me.

Is there actually a way to run with my UE4.21 VXGI2 version im using ? The 4.21 VXGI build is runing without any issues on my machine, i have just no idea how to integarte into it… Do i need to build the branch again from the start ? which files do i need to copy into the UE4 VXGI branch ?

You just need to install the binary version of into the official version of the engine, then copy the plug-in folder into the unconstructed version of VXGI, and build with VXGI to get the VXGI version of . Of course, you may have to copy the Simul folder to make sure it works properly.

Many thanks for the quick answer! I will try it out today. About the Simul folder? What Simul folder are you reffering to and where has it to go? I tried to install the binary ones and all i saw was a folder in the Plugin folder of the engine.

Simul’s document mentions the location of the Simul folder. Probably under the engine’s Binaries-Third Part path, folder should store 's account information and some repair files. Without folder, the sky of your build version will always be black.

Ok i got it to work, thanks for the help.
I need to sit a little bit longer on to check out the full potential of tool, however the two sample scenes are provided dont look much much better than the standard sky blueprint in UE4.
The performance drop in a scene is also kinda very high.

Not sure why but there is no way to create a sequence or lets better say to edit a sequence, by clicking one of the two sample sequences or on a self created new sequence the editor just crashes. In detail, the sequence editor opens, the editor freezes and than crashes with an error message without the possibillity to even click something.

Hi, does not work in a packaged project.
I followed these steps http://docs.simul.co/unrealengine/Deploy.html.

The Log says :

The TrueSkyPluginRender_MT.dll does exist in the correct folder.

Can someone help me please?

Hey guys, I’m using a 4k screen for does anyone know if there’s a way to fix the UI for the plugin? Mine is too small, I’m able to use it but the sliders are very small and the text cuts off. I’ve tried scaling the interface of Unreal and setting screen resolution to 1080p to see if that changes anything, still the same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I have an with SceneCapture2D and in 4.1a ver303. The problem is the star meshes show up in the alpha of the render target when using (SceneColor (HDR) in RGB, Inv Opacity in A). Is there any way to have fixed, or a way to have not render in the background of the SceneCapture2D?

What happened to trueskywater? Why does it look so dirty? It’s not as clean as the released video.

Is there any specific error thrown when the editor crashes? Also make sure you’re using the correct version of plugin for the github, and to install all files that are included, not just the ones in the plugin folder.

Hello, I have consulted many times about the problem that blueprint control is not available in 4.2, and no one has responded. I have been testing many new versions of 4.2, and problem exists. Specific problems can be referred to the response of 1538 layers, whether UE 4.19 or 4.21, when using blueprint nodes to control , the first control is not a problem, but after shutting down the engine and entering the checkpoint again, it will directly cause collapse. In the same way, I can use it normally in version 4.1a. serious BUG makes it impossible for me to use version 4.2 to make it. What can I do to solve problem?

I use 4.2. Downloaded from https://github.com/simul/UnrealEngine/tree/4.20.
two in 4.2

  1. 3D Cloud function can not be activated.
  2. If the TrueSkySequenceComulus Window is Full-Screen, a crash occurs.
“Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. Error : HUNG”

Since Simul seems active in thread I figured I’d ask: any of the water receiving full functionality with the plugin version? I understand refraction etc. doesn’t work with external plugins currently.

Could someone tell me what the difference is between the two plugin installer versions? I have tried both the 4.1a version and 4.2 version. I like the 4.2 plugin, the quality of the clouds look a lot better. The biggest I am having is not being able to set the color of the sky. When checking “Store as Colours” on a sky key frame, it doesn’t matter what color I set the zenith or horizon color to, it always shows up black. It works completely fine in 4.1a.

The main difference between 4.1 and 4.2 is that 4,2 supports the ability to create multiple 3D cloud layers, whereas 4.1 can only support 1 3D cloud layer and an extra 2D layer.

As for the ‘Store as colours’ issue, that will be fixed in the next build.

Not until the binary version of UE4 supports certain features that we require to access the rendertarget so the refract effect can work.
