[RELEASED] for UE4: Complete Sky and Weather System

All the features work with a trial licence key. If you message us at [EMAIL=“”] and explain the problem, I’ll be happy to extend the trial and provide any technical help you may need.

Subscription model seems that does not please anyone. People only subscrib in any thing because they haven’t another option. more resembles leasing, and will give to buyers the impression that will never get what they bought, and the ‘PLUGIN’ value seems for me a total value not an annuity.

About Unreal Engine case, it is different, they will only charge you a X% percentage, as soon as you begin make money.

plugin is , hey I would like to see it in the marketplace as a marketplace product not as a middleware solution like SpeedTree that personally think be following an uncertain way for a indie market.

Since other advanced solutions will emerge over time, is a important time to establishing firstly.

Best Regards

Well, 's an opportunity to help us out.

First I should say that there’s currently no place in the Marketplace for anything like , because it is middleware, it is a plugin, and the Marketplace doesn’t accept plugins yet. I don’t know when they will start to do .

A large organization like Epic can charge royalties because they have the resources to audit their customers, it doesn’t make sense for a small company like Simul.

So we’re left with a few options:

1 (the current one) Subscription, monthly or yearly at a discount; no charge to publish. Cheap at the outset, and you could in theory be getting in a commercial game for as little as £15, but it seems unpopular, perhaps for those who don’t plan to commercialize.

2 Per-product, per-platform licensing, with no charge to use prior to publishing. is what we do with AAA’s, but like with royalties it’s hard to do when the number of customers starts getting large. Bear in mind the price will be at least as much per-product as a yearly subscription.

3 One-off price to buy the plugin. Simple, but to make it work commercially it would be more expensive than 1 or 2.

So please tell me your thoughts.

I think the third option is more realistic, the software is threated as a product final by itself, in the state that is when the customer buys. More expensive, but however you have ownership over the thing you has paid.

A software not mentioning their updates and fixes (that is essential thing when someone buys something, as a guarantee) is not equal a service continuously being provided to the client, such as a hosting service that demand constant maintenance and you must use some physical thing from them, in case, your servers, then you consuming. But anything you buy and stays with you, it’s yours.

But regardless way a good fortune

's another option:

4 - One-off price to buy the plugin. But you pay per month. Which could also make it easier for to buy it.

is what Allegorithmic is doing with their software suite and I think it’s a good compromise. They charge $318.00 for their entire indie suite ($19.90 per month during 16 months) and in the end, you own the software. That’s a a pretty good deal and also it positions them well, price-wise, with the indie community.

I would prefer each of the payment systems tbh including the “rent-to-own” model. With any of these, the user’s account should an account balance that they can add funds to. If the account balance reaches 0, then the monthly charge is charged to the credit card. Basically the same thing you see with loan type of payment systems.

Is it just my imagination or does the sun not ever move? all of your videos only show clouds moving and colors awkwardly changing, but no movement of the sun…I also did not see a moon, or any mention of moon phases?

the sun can move, just needs to be plugged into the level blueprint

Yeah, Im supporting option. I have the Indie subscription which ends in 16 months and then I own the software

Look into how algorithmic does things with their subscription model.

Basically it is subscribe to own.

Hi,

Is compatible with Mobile?

I have a team that’s working on the implementation of plugin into a custom UE4.7.3 (and will move to 4.8 once its stable). We’re just now getting a handle on performance vs. quality and have made large gains in area, but there’s a number of areas we need to improve on to really consider our implementation a success.

's our (the Indigenous team’s) near-term roadmap for plugin:

  1. Figure out how to control when and where weather occur - not just randomized.
  2. Attach events onto those - from things as simple as playing a sound at the origin of a lightning strike to detailed gameplay events like environmental reactions or AI based on things like sunny or raining.
  3. Wrangle the system from its default time scale to a logical calendar system, complete with seasonal change.
  4. Continue to the overall quality of the system (clouds, godrays, sky, etc) while maintaining low performance impacts (PC/Console platforms).

's my reason for posting:

Once you’ve successfully implemented the plugin, the documentation and community surrounding is quite limited. While I enjoy hearing feedback and answers from its creators, I don’t pay them enough to answer all my questions via email. Are there any other individuals or teams that are trying software out or committing to implement it into their projects with some success? We’d like to talk with you and swap knowledge. We have two designers and an engineer working on the system, and have become familiar with the tools, but are by no means experts. We’re looking for people along the same path (i.e. people who are beyond basic questions that the documentation covers well).

No, at present it isn’t mobile-compatible. At some point it will be, but I don’t recommend you rely on in your planning.

I subscribed to simul yesterday using their paypal system, I have yet to receive a key from them which is very frustrating ive emailed them and called them multiple times with no reply I don’t know who else to contact some im writing … The account page in the simlu website saids “No licence key has been generated yet.” you guys need better support and response times… How could it take so long for me to get a key for your product?

Thanks

Hi ,
is the Simul still active?
is there any progress for UE4 Plugin?

Hi everybody,
i’ve the same question… is still alive ?
The PS4 export is functionnal ?

Hi @ , I have a question.

Unreal Engine 4.7.5 was installed on my computer. I backup version, and I deleted it. I downloaded the open source code of the version 4.7.0 and I’ve compiled it again. in the latest version of the Unreal Engine 4.7.0 version still work?

And,

I downloaded the UE4 4.6.1 version files from GitHub, but I can’t install. I downloaded and I installed the 4.7.0 source codes. Then:

1) I download the UE4-4.7.0 source codes, then I run the “setup.bat” for clean download, then I run the “generateprojectsfiles.bat” file, and I run the “UE4.sln” file with Visual Studio 2013 for clean install.

2) I copied and pasted it GitHub\UnrealEngine\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Simul folder into the database D:\Program Engine\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty Files\Unreal.

3) I copied and pasted it GitHub\UnrealEngine\Engine\Plugins\TrueSkyPlugin folder into the database D:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\Engine\Plugins.

4) I download and install Sky Sequencer (SkySequencerSetup_3.7.0.0274.exe).

5) I download and install SDK (DLL Runtime 64-bit - TrueSkySetup_x64_VC11_3.7.0.0098.exe)

6) I write the license key in “LicenseKey.h” file.

7) And I twice run the “generateprojectsfiles.bat” file, and I run the “UE4.sln” file with Visual Studio 2013 for clean install.

But Sky Sequencer, and UE4 doesn’t open. Do you think, I delete the UE4 4.7.0 version, I should install the 4.6.1 version?

And,

Unreal Engine version 4.8 will be released soon. **** will be updated with version?

Hôrra @ ,

I’m disappointed in you … I made the purchase of True Sky a week before the launch in order to use the product within the Unreal and in a moment will overcome my license unless you could give some kind of support …

I try to send you e-mail every 15 days and you end up completely ignoring my messages … I just like to use the Variable Editor into the Blue Print in order to create a gallery of The Presets … As result more benefits More … your project you do not answer any of my messages …

Hey Friends … I do not believe we will be very careful about for our projeots … I’m starting to give it up and look for some new alternative to develop …

is my constructive criticism, after all … I’m paying …

Are your questions sensitive - can you just ask them ? Someone else might be able to respond and everyone benefits from the Q/A.

Yep… no answer for me too… however, i’ve asked … My team wants to use …
