Sorry I haven’t had a to test the worley noise, but was using the latest binary installer for 4.13 ( 4.1)

Question for those of you who are doing flight simulations with true sky.

How do you guys get the Large scale terrain into your projects?

Are you using standard height map based terrain or are you using something else?

I am really thinking about picking up true sky at the moment. :slight_smile:

The last install binary pakages for x64 (all those of October) have problems…

Turning Worley noise amplitude to 0 does get rid of the blocky shapes. It would be great to know however if is a bug or an expected behaviour. Cheers.

You can use the binary installer if the repo is causing issues, perhaps that’s simpler (just extract into your UE4 directory). However I’m not too sure about Perforce; I will mention to and see what he thinks.

The bug is that it started off with a high value for , when it should be 0 by default. But I don’t think is still an in the latest versions. Otherwise set value to whatever you want to produce the effect you want (but for most I imagine leaving it at 0 is fine).

Just a PSA:

  1. The binary has been fixed, so the next builds shouldn’t produce any dll errors when being installed over the UE4 directory

  2. And the rain should be working in 4.1 again in case anyone was having problems. If you’re struggling to see it then try turning up the rain drop size in the 3D cloud layer.

I haven’t yet dealt with terrain for my game, right now I’ve just got a big flat plane. I’m planning on making a 30km x 30km area of northern france though, textured with a mix of satellite imagery and procedural textures.

We are working on a system to stop rain going through meshes. The difficulty is that when you have hundreds of thousands of particles you can’t really do collision, per se, as the performance cost would be too high.
