It’s a collaboration with an amazing Japanese musician Toshiyuki Yasuda and featuring the voice of Seika Iwashita.
It’s a very special project.
Made entirely by me in about a month++.
It’s rendered entirely in UE4 Sequencer (Then added credits and titles in Premiere, no other alteration were made)
Blueprints are used as a backbone too.
I wanted to have a unique look so I ended using RTXGI (NVidia Ray Tracing plugin), I love the grain and shimmer that Ray tracing produces, some see it as artifacts, but I wanted it: Fine tuned in size and frequency so it gives an extra life to the renders and breaks the CG looks.
That kinds of extra personal project are a way to level up my skills or learn new engine features, this time it was the new sequencer (4.27.2 was used), and trying to get a cinematic look.
24fps 1080p
Feel free to ask me anything, I am a solo indie VR dev, so I can answer any of your technical questions and I will be very happy to!
I just watched your Synthesis Universe Music video! It’s so cool that you were able to collaborate with musicians for this project! The music is so utterly otherworldly and trippy. Listening to this in surround took me to a distant place. It puts my mind into a J-horror cutscene!
To me, it was watching an energy source power up from the elements within. This source of energy is essential to providing needed power for the android to carry out its mission. The effects used made me feel as though this area is very hot and not intended for human flesh without some sort of protective suit needed. Please tell us, what was the motivation for your music video?
Bonjour @Get_DOVAH_it !
Thank you for your great comment! I am very happy you “got it”, it is indeed a very hot place in that civilization!
The motivation is quite a big one, Synthesis Universe is a project I started full time since 2011…!
I am a game dev, and the idea is that instead of creating a game and then another: create a civilization with it’s lore and technology then make us it as the base for everything.
The original motivation was that I have a story I want to tell.
The rest is making games and VR experience to showcase/present little by little the civilization and try to survive as a Solo Indie VR Dev.
If you want to know more, one interview is still a good start:
These Robot are shells that host a “soul core” the civilization has a technology based on music “Synthesis” is a especially reference to synthesizers, the civilization is inside a volcano so the orange is not just for show, it’s an energy source based on magma/Lava and/or melted materials.
For the collaborations, I am a solo Dev but I always work with musicians, everything is based on music so for the visuals and what is happening in the scenes are all based on what the music inspire me. It’s build around the music, and not what usually directors do: have a music tailored to their editing.
Every sound, beat, melodies has a visual place. That really the base of SU (Synthesis Universe)
I am trying to make a short reply, but it’s difficult for a life project that started more than 10 years ago
I do appreciate a lot your interest as for any artist it’s always a great drive to move forward!
