Relative path for input images + simplify input selection

Hi all,

It is a recurrent problem when working with projects and switching organization of inputs, or disk letters. A very good and ismple thing to implement in capturing would be Relative path for input (images and laser scans), to make easier the switching from one PC or external HD to another.

Moreover, allowing to switch photos with ones following a given pattern for example replace IMG_017.jpg to IMG_017_masked.jpg or IMG_017.dng would also be a very nice addition.

Finally, right now, it is quite difficult to go through imported inputs. It might be good to let the user select inputs by camera model or by folder (keep the folder structure visible in the input section for example, so that if my drone and ground images are separated in two folders, I can then select each data set easily).

All the best, Jonathan

Oh yes, I thought that too more than once!

No CAD system would get away with uneditable full-path folder structure - firms’ IT departments would let the CAD company know that’s unworkable, very strongly.

And it should be possible, at least manually (or by batch), to specify an alteration to the filepath(s) in any Project (or batch of Projects). Instead of RC just uninformatively saying File not found.

From https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115001353252-1Ds-photos-Search;

“In 1Ds Images, and in each Component>Camera poses list, the photos to be sortable into Name order.
And optionally, to be sorted by Folder > then Name order i.e. display the folder name(s).”

“Also in Component>Camera poses list, sortable by tie points count, to see at a glance which photos are least effective.”

This would be very useful. It can be quite a pain to have to edit 100’s of image paths on multiple .rcprojects when moving projects around. Or archiving.

Yes, you can use a text editor but a relative path would make much more sense, especially for archiving requirements.

+1. It’s been six years! How is this not added yet?
