Origin Story
The first artifact is a blog post from 2011
A young aspiring game developer learning UDK (Unreal Engine 3)
I was interested in distilling the FPS genre. Clearly defined hitboxes (this is where the name “Killbox” came from). Also the balance of Damage, Reload Speed, Magazine Size.
I also thought it was important that I start making my own assets.
“If a light were to naturally grow from the ceiling- what would that look like?”
Textures built from the ground-up in Photoshop.
It felt good to be in an environment of entirely my own creation.
Then, UI design, and a Flythrough…
And then, I moved to California for my first job in the games industry. My focus shifted to the VR renaissance.
Fast forward to today. I take another step towards bringing this meditation to reality.
