Reflection Capture Strategy

Hi All,

I am working on a bigger interior project of a museum (850 sqm). I already managed to set satisfactory quality of the lightmass, but I am still struggling with the reflections in the scene.
The interior is a classical example of a museum typology - a sequence of big empty rooms with ambient skylights overall and few wall windows with direct light.

Because of my RAM capacity (64 GB) I cannot cover such a big scene with many overlapping sphere reflection captures with higher resolution. Therefore I switched to box reflection capture approach having a box for each room and a general one over the whole level. I also placed few smaller sphere reflection captures next to the windows and exhibition pieces on the walls near the direct light areas (see screenshots). Unfortunately I still get very poor results - lots of reflection glitches between the rooms and a striking reflection transition between each box reflection capture visible on the floor in the doorsteps.

What would be your strategy to set reflection in such a level?
Any good tutorials on setting reflection in bigger ArchViz scenes?

Thanks for all your comments!

Hi,

In comparison to my previous post I have just tested another strategy with Sphere reflection Captures this time - they are placed in a matrix of 6m, overlapping a bit and covering each room with at least few spheres.
This time I also got reflection glitches on the floor coming from another rooms as well as very poor mixing.
Another issue is very poor reflection mixing, especially visible on the walls around the hanging objects, where I placed small spheres of a radius 50cm for detailed reflection.

The option “reduce lightmap mixing on smooth surfaces” is ON, Reflection Capture Resolution = 128).

Any ideas how to set the scene reflections right?
