Recreating a project that won't open (crash on launch)

So have been working in a project using 4.26 Preview editor. Recently updated but now my project won’t open (crashes on launch) I get the following error

Can I recreate the project by creating a new empty project and dragging all of the .umap and .uasset files into the new project?
If so, should this dragging-copying be done on the desktop, or can I drag into my Content Browser with the new empty project open?

Thanks for any feedback!

“Can I recreate the project by creating a new empty project and dragging all of the .umap and .uasset files into the new project?”

Depends on a lot of things, such as if you will be creating the project in the same version, if you the files are linked to other things, what type they are ie blueprint vs static mesh etc.

Have you tried deleting FStationary and seeing if that bypasses the crash?

Thanks. SO one of the issues was GPU Lightmass. Doesn’t seem to work with 4.26 Preview 7.
The other is a ‘Crack Displacement’ option which was checked in my Material settings. Also doesn’t work with preview 7.

I’m also having trouble , File:D:/Build/++UE4/Sync/Engine/Source/Runtime/Engine/Private/ShaderCompiler/ShaderCompiler.cpp] [Line: 5232] Failed to compile global shader

AllI I did was install preview 7 and opened a COPY of current project as is always wize, and got to 47% and it died, then I pasted a r. command in appropriate ini file, and got to 57% bedfore it died.

Is this more related to preview 7 or something else maybe P7 doesn’t like my 4.24 project which is not ray traced ?
