I don’t know how but i accidentaly deleted my entire documents folder, and with it all of my UEFN projects, is there any way i could get them back? They all just say “sync” but when i sync them they are completely blank. I tried using recovery programs to recover my documents folder but it didn’t work.
i have the same exact issue like you … did you resolve it yet ?
Hi all,
You would have needed to submit your projects to source control with the ‘Check-in-changes’ button to send the project files to the server.
Did you delete your project and then empty your ‘Recycle Bin’? If not, then you may be able to recover the folders from there.
Also as a tangential Windows pro-tip: you can hold SHIFT while pressing delete to erase the data entirely. (Skipping the recycle bin) It’s useful when you’re deleting a huge folder to immediately free up the drive space.
Hey there, if you didn’t do that the is no possible way to get the files back? Apart from trying to recover the files with a tool like windows recovery
It’s not possible. (A packaged version of your island is what exists when you publish it, and currently I’m not aware of any way to get any info out of a published island)
Bringing up ‘windows recovery’ is good though. When you delete files your hard drive doesn’t erase the data, it just marks the area where the data is as ‘ok to overwrite’. (I guess this saves hard-drive life by reducing read-write cycles) soooo… if you’re really desperate there could be a path forward for recovery with one of those type of restoration tools.
