Reconstruction without re-centering mesh

Is there a way to not have the mesh re-centered on reconstruction? So that the coordinates stay the same with the imported E57?

Have you checked the coordinates? Are they actually different?

It is probably only a display issue…

Yes the model comes out a completely different location than the source data. Verified with Maya. RC centers the model at 0,0,0 somehow even though the point cloud was not.

Did you make sure that the Coordinate System at export is set to Project Output?

Where is that option? On Mesh export it says local coordinate system.

You need to have set the e57 as locked and local at time of import for it not to move

Where is that option to lock and local? It does not show in the import menu? Thanks.

Thanks. Imported the E57s with the georeferenced to true and Euclidean/local. Clicked alignment and point cloud shows,
but when pressing normal construction, nothing appears.

There is a model but it just says empty.

Preview generates 57K triangles, but they are just a blobby mess.

Any idea what’s going wrong?

Seems like a bug. It’s described in Bug Reports somewhere - you need to set one variable to something else than 0:

https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360000707711-Weird-Laser-Scan-Reconstruction-Problem

Tried 0.002 and 0.005 - no luck - for minimal distance between vertices.

Generated model is empty.

Any other ideas?

New project and start from scratch -helps quite often and can save hours of troubleshooting…

Created 10th new project now… always the same…

Bummer. And the only difference is the way you imported it in comparison to the one that worked (but did not stay oriented)?

Yes exactly just the different settings. (I did run into this issue at some point before but not repeatable.) 45+ GB free RAM

Sorry, out of ideas -> file a bug report?
