reconstruction settings

I’m just trying to understand a little better the use of some parameters.

In reconstruction settings/ normal mode you have the downscale image parameter.
I, of course understand what it means but want to understand how it works.
If you set the parameter to “2” is it like if your images were 2 times smaller ? or does it generate 50% the size of the regular depth map ?

Another question about “quality level” : le parameter is set to 1 in normal and 2 in high.
What is the max value ? how does it work ? is it possible to use 3 or 4 if you want to treat a little object (like a coin) ?

thanks.

Fred

its downsample the source images and just then are depth maps calculated
yes 2x downsample is a reduction to 50%
1x downsample = every pixel used
2x dowsample = every 2nd pixel used
3x downsample = every 4 pixel used
4x downsample = every 8 pixel used

thanks for the answer…

and what about the quality setting ?
The parameter is set to 1 in normal and 2 in high.

Need hear deeper explanation too :smiley: and the one responsible is right now on the road from Germany to our office in Slovakia so will be able explain a bit later today…

any news on quality mode Milos ? I tried 2 or 3 and get absolutely no difference. :slight_smile:

OK as we discussed it with DEVs we will remove the quality settings from there so its not confusing you
its have no impact on the meshing, its just internal “description”.

DRAFT = Q-0
NORMAL = Q-1
HIGH = Q-2

ok… thxs a lot…

alright… thanks for the explanation Milos :wink:
