Hello!
So, when I assign the newest UE5 skeleton to a skeletal mesh (that was originally designed for a UE4 skeleton), the character becomes deformed.
I saw a post asking help for an identical issue, but no one gave a definitive answer.
Thanks!

Hi there,
How are you? How is your AI project going?
Just to your point, Manny has 5 spine bones, and UE4 has only 3. Manny’s hands have more bones (metatarsals) than UE4’s. Also, they have different binding poses. So, reassigning the skeleton that way would potentially cause issues.
If you are Maya user, take a look at this video, you may be able to reproduce the effect using UE5 skeleton.
HOW TO MAKE EPIC SKELETON IN MAYA FOR UE4 WITHOUT PLUGINS - YouTube
A traditional rigging without plugins for Blender users:
rig a character for unreal engine 5 to use it for retargetting and all the animations of Mannequin - YouTube
Hope that helps.

My Dude, things are great! I’m routinely assigning tasks to NPCs, creating a coding playground were people trade goods, and occasionally get attacked by wild animals!
Also, I’ve been avoiding Blender, but what LFA says, goes, so I guess I better get used to it.
Glad it helps. Keep up the good work.
Sounds like a cool game.
