realTrees - Horse Chestnut Tree (Aesculus hippocastanum) 15 Million Polys Mesh

Horse Chestnut Tree - Buckeye Tree ( Aesculus hippocastanum )

This horse chestnut tree is 14.4 meters high.

At a height of 1.30 meters the trunk has diameter of around 1.05 meter

This is the first model released by realTrees.net

We believe there is nothing out there like this in the field of computer graphics.

We want to reimagine how trees are built in games, visual effects and model making.

We give you a photo-real, scan based mesh .

The artist or technical director can then in a software like Houdini add leaves, animation and refine the texturing etc.

Because the mesh is scan based you will have some artifacts in the geometry and texture.

Please be aware the very basic 16k texture is a first color pass, it looks okay but its not flawless.

Please have a look at the media gallery, where we explain what artifacts can appear on a gigantic dataset like this.

The tree is not made for close up renderings. The images in the gallery show the closest distance you should use with Full HD resolution.

Otherwise branches and twigs and texture will not hold up.

With that being said, we are still very confident that our approach will change the quality of tree models in games and cinema.

In a real set this hero tree can change an environment from meh to yeah.

There is a library of 50 trees waiting to be published. A treasure chest for any foliage artist. This chestnut tree is the first gem.

This is a waterproof , high density mesh of a tree and a low resolution standin mesh for layout purpose.

We also added a medium sized mesh for gaming environments.

No cards or mapped planes are used for the twigs here. Only cold, hard geometry.
