Hi all,
I started using Unreal Engine about three months ago and always wanted to look at a realtime engine to use as an assembly/layout and shading/lighting tool for a project.
This realtime gym is my project for testing workflows and pipeline. Also wanted to use it for something where I could combine a ‘real’ scene (the people in the gym) with something more abstract (the heart) in one shot.
This is not a shortfilm or trailer for a game. The idea could become anything though. There is no story, for now it is all about the tech
Just working with Unreal and changing things on the fly while seeing the end result is so much fun… thanks Epic

Let me know what you think!

I think it’s excellent Oliver
The gym is simple but done well, and the internal shots have great materials and great animation.
Great work!
Thanks man!
Here are some making-of screenshots on various aspects:

The characters all use the Unreal Animation Rigging Toolkit with a couple auto joints added at the shoulder area. There is no weight painting or blendshapes. This is the skinning output from just binding the mesh.
I am using this method by Peter Shipkov http://petershipkov.com/development/shoulderrig/shoulderrig.htm

Making clothes in Marvelous Designer is lots of fun. I kept them pretty simple, since I dressed 9 characters. Not all are used in the demo.
The materials are done in Substance Designer. Very simple setups as you can see from the networks:
