RealityScan 1.4.0 is now available.
What’s New
-
New Cropping Experience
- It’s now easier to achieve precise control over the processing volume, which ensures that your model only contains the parts of the scan area that you need. Quickly switch between fixed 2D views of your subject, and drag the boundary lines into place.
-
Cleaner final meshes
- RealityScan automatically filters out unwanted artifacts like floating triangles and small mesh fragments.
-
Improved UVs
- RealityScan now lays out the UV maps it creates more uniformly, which can improve visual results for texture rendering and lighting in 3D tools.
-
Categories and tags
- You can now set categories and tags for your models in the RealityScan app before you share them to Sketchfab. This makes your models easier to search and find on the Sketchfab site.
-
New tutorial slides
- On first use of the app, a short slideshow illustrates the overall scanning process and what qualities make for good and bad subjects. (You can still see the previous video by going to Settings > View Tutorial.)
-
Processing now requires at least 20 photos
- This prevents accidental submissions that might not succeed.
-
What’s new & update notifications
- The RealityScan app now shows the list of recent changes the first time you launch it after upgrading. It also alerts you when there is an updated version available.
Bugs Fixed
Android
- Photos in some sessions were completely green, or had random artifacts on the right side. This could cause the finalization process to fail.
iOS
- The “Update Preview Model” button incorrectly appeared when users navigated back from the Process & Export screen.
- Resolved unexpected crashes.
Known Bugs
- Some models appear upside-down when uploaded to Sketchfab.
