Reality Capture - Reconstruction in normal detail, Error message "the application has run out of memory"

I am trying to create a 3D model of an artefact using reality capture.

I have followed an online tutorial and have created two masks of both sides of the object, I have aligned these together and I am now at the stage of trying to create a normal detail mesh model.
However, when I try to reconstruct it in Normal Detail, I get the error message, “the application has run out of memory”. This appears after it has been processing for 4+ hours and is about half-way through. If I close the error message and try again it will pick up where it left off and carry on for a while longer before the error message appears again.

Will it eventually complete or will the memory problem stop it from finishing? If so, is there anything that I can do to make it work?

Ideally, I want to make the model as detailed as possible but I am am happy to experiment with different options to try and get it to work.

Thank you!

Hello @GGThornhill
How many images are you using? What are your computer’s parameters? Have you changed the reconstruction settings? Do you have enough space on your disk? Can you check also the console view in which step this error happens?

So, I am using 1547 images.

I haven’t changed the reconstruction settings - are there some that you would recommend?

I have plenty of space on the disc and have 16 GB RAM.

I will run the process again and check the console view (as I have not used that before)

Hi, can you check this: RC crashing on PC, but not laptop? Both high spec. - #4 by bajp2019 and try the mentioned workarounds?

Hi, Thank you very much for your help. I think it was just the RAM/processing power of the laptop I was using. I ended up buying a more powerful computer
