I’m having an issue with RC after the update to 1.4, but it seems to exist in 1.3 as well.
I can’t use it to complete, save, or export models. I have a large dataset that I’ve previously used, but needed to reprocess. It aligned well, took a LONG time modeling, and then hung up completely during texturing. It pegged my CPU to 98-100% for over an hour before I forced it to quit.
I went back in, recovered, and attempted to save it, but it crashed and I was unable to save.
I tried a different existing model, and simplified. It hung up and crashed.
I cleared the cache. I power cycled. I uninstalled. I downgraded to 1.3 and it’s still happening. I ran diagnostics on my machine and came up with nothing.
It’s completely useless. A dataset of 400 12mp images told me it would take 12 hours for a draft alignment, and maxed out my workstation-class i9x.
HELP!
I’m not above fresh installing windows and starting completely over. This is mission critical.
Hi Joe,
I am sorry for these issues.
Are your projects created in PPI or ENT versions? If PPI, are you doing decrypting before new processing (Introducing RealityCapture 1.4 | Course)?
What are your settings for each process?
Regarding the large dataset, what is the number of the triangles of the model? For example, you need to have free 500 bytes of storage for each triangle, or 1kb every 2 tris, or 1mb every 2000 tris, or 1 gb every 2 million tris, or 1tb every 2billion tris.
Heavy CPU is used during model texturing. Were you able to see something in console view during the computation.
Before in 1.3 it worked well? As there are not big changes between the 1.3 and 1.4.
For a small dataset, which step is taking the longes time according to the console view?
I have the exact same problem !
Alignement is ok. But at the end of reconstruction, it seems to freeze about 95% and 100%. I have checked the Temp directory. No file created since a few hours.
So, i delete the temp directory and launch again the reconstruction. Sometime, it works. Sometime, not.
It is a problem i had never know with previous versions (1.3 and before).
I have only 600 images (20 mo each) so it is not a big project.
In the past, i made projects with 1000 ~ 1500 or more photos without this bug except the long time for the reconstruction but it was logical.
It seems to be a new bug of the 1.4 version.
Plus, when i want to abord the process, the program seems to record my choice but nothing happen. So it is really freeze. So, i must kill the task with the program manager.
