I found out about Reality Capture not too long ago and recently purchased it for a project Im working on. Im pretty brand new to all this but my plan is to create 3d characters of two actors, create different versions with different facial expressions for blendshapes, apply motion files to them for animation, then use marvelous designer for cloth sims. I tested it out on my brothers head and the results were better than I expected :D. I did some research and looks like the next step would be to use wrap 3 for retopology. Then upload my character to Mixamo I dont know if im doing things the best way, but I just put him on a turntable with some front lighting, and a greenscreen in the background. I tried it for the female actress and had a hard time getting good results like with my brother. The male actor has a face with a bunch of moles so maybe that helped the software get better results. Also the girls face was very pale white, with few imperfections. I don’t have one of those big booths with a bunch of cameras like i see in some pictures. I do have two other older dslr cameras and a red epic cinema camera. Wonder if using all four cameras even though they arent the same kind will give me better results. The 3D characters wont be seen from too close up since i will use the real versions for that. They will mostly be seen from a distance but still have to look like them.
I get these strange 16k textures with all the texture info towards the bottom. Is there anyway to make it take up more space of the image so i dont have all that wasted pixel space?
Hi Tarin
When you have a model reconstructed, use the UNWRAP tool and play with the FIXED TEXEL DETAIL option ( use the OPTIMAL TEXEL VALUE ) and set the desired texture resolution. when it is finished, UNWRAP, you need to use the TEXTURE button to calculate the texture…
Okie dokie Thanks! I luv the software so far. woohoo!
