Hi. First time user here. Played with this program for four hours so far. The textured model in the RC viewport looks great to me.
In Maya, the exported mesh and textures I have tried look noticeably much worse to me. Curious as to why that is. Is that normal behavior or is there a way to export quality much closer to what I see in the RC viewport?
I have played with Unwrap settings. Below is an obj using Unwrap setting of “fixed texel size” and “Optimal”. Texture output size is a single 32k.
the 1st reason why it looks worse in Maya is because of shading. Click on “use all lights” in Maya and check the difference. The 2nd reason are the black outlines and that is a bug in RealityCapture. It is caused when you are trying to export with the setting “Export to a single texture file” set to “True”. Use “False”.
Thank you very much for the info. Following your advice the results in Maya are much much closer to what I see in the RC viewport now.
Still playing with settings but I’m very happy with the exported results in Maya now.
For anyone wondering. I took the images with my S8 phone. From ground view while walking around. Took about 24 images. RC doesn’t appear to identify the camera used but it still did a good job of stitching them together. Processing steps took less than a minute on my i7 with 1080ti card.
