Can you tell me whether the RC can use a fisheye lens, if you can how to set up, thanks
Hi zzzj
Can you tell me whether the RC can use a fisheye lens, if you can how to set up, thanks
Yes, you can use them but I highly recommend you to change the distortion model of the camera in ALIGNMENT -> SETTINGS -> ADVANCED -> DISTORTION MODEL -> change it from the default Brown3 to DIVISION. Keep in mind the OVERLAP of images, as it needs to be good because only the “central” part is useful because of high image distortion on edges…
Thank you, I try to change to Division ,Reconstruction calculation can appear error ??
prompt: Invalid function call!!!
please help
Hi zzzj
Some screenshots would help me to understand where you get this error precisely…
Won’t upload screenshots, the feeling is a frame of SLR circular fisheye images set to Division, cannot calculation model
Hi zzzj
If it is NDA data, feel free to send it to my email for a private discussion: milos.lukac@capturingreality.com
The error could come from various things, so it is not possible for me to say what you need to do to solve this without more information…
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1gePFTC3, Is the problem of screenshots
Hi Wishgranter
I have already send mail to you, how to solve this problem, thank you very much
This is a very good topic.
Whishgranter, you mention that:
“Keep in mind the OVERLAP of images as it need to be good because only “central” part is useful because of high image distortion on edges…”
This begs the question, what is the widest angle lens you would recommend on a full frame (35mm) sensor camera? Is there any point to getting a fisheye lens if you have to have large overlap to make it work? I am scanning and photographing small electrical pits, where I would like to get as wide an angle as is possible/useful.
Thanks
Richard.
Hi rstuckey
It is hard to say…

Personally, I never go under 12 mm, as the distortion, even with ASPHERICAL lens, has started to be an issue. So try to get good and SHARP lens. For Nikon D8xx it has been very good with the 14 mm Aspherical Nikon Lens…
Hi Wishgranter
why my Full-frame 35mm SLR (canon 5DSR)alignment settings set Division and The results obtained can’t Reconstruction ,use pix4dmapper and contextcapture all Can handle the good, they all have Fisheye camera model type, but why RC cannot?

Can you send me the actual dataset so that I can inspect it ? We have no problems to align or reconstruct even from fish-eye data, so it must be a workflow issue…
HI Wishgranter
Original photographs I have email to you milos.lukac@capturingreality.com
please Check trouble reason, thank you very much
Hi zzzj
Image data downloaded, can you send me RCPROJ files so that I can test it on your data to find out what is the problem there ?
Hi zzzj
For now do not use DIVISION for this particular camera + lens combination, we need to inspect why it is happening that it does not allow reconstruction…
Hi Wishgranter
tanks
I repack all engineering has send you email, please check
Hi all,
have you managed to resolve the issue?
Fisheye lens support is not good, it is best not to use
Hi zzzj
take a look at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/CapturingRealityArena/
There are some GOOD datasets done from fisheye lenses only.
For use of fisheyes on photogrammetry I highly recommend you to do some research how they can be successfully used…
Thank you. I’ll take a look at this information
