RC 1.0.3.3939 - Processing Question

Hi,

I was wondering if any developer could provide a bit more detail around this new feature:

Model processing & tools’ improvements:

  • Much higher quality model computation (zero: non-manifolds & holes)

I started reconstructing a project in high detail this morning, I cancelled it so I could run it with the new update at lunch after I updated the software.

My personal projects are all interior models and I was curious how this new feature will help.

Thx

Hi Mike,

I am not a Dev (obviously) but it basically means it creates watertight meshes. Holes should be self-explanatory and the non-manifold you can search the web for. It’s some technical flaw in a mesh with either too many or not enougt edges on a vertex or something.

My question to the Devs is:

Was the non-manifold-ness responsible for tiny holes after simplification?

Yeah,

I was asking to see if there was anything more than that and how its different from the other version.

Well, that’s easy!  It means that the older version did create meshes with those things…

Which is not so ideal.
