Ratings failed to migrate to Fab

Yesterday Fab was finally opened and Epic’s Marketplace closed. I have two products, both had some ratings, but because of some bug or whatever my products are “No rating yet”.

Checked products of other people, all have their ratings, so I am assume it is something wrong with me, or I didn’t do something for proper migration? No info in google. Sad…

I’m in the same situation. I’ll try to contact them by e-mail. I’ll keep you informed.

Here’s the answer : " Listings are required to receive at least 5 reviews before the rating is displayed. For more information, please refer to the Rating Documentation.".

No waay…

This is so junk.
Like why.
For the starter devs. like me, when everything is difficult on it’s own, they add extra load for some stupid reason.

I don’t know if it’s a temporary decision for the launch or if it’s a definitive choice. In any case, I share your opinion. Very few people post a review, and this situation complicates things.

After some hours thinking about such “mechanics” of displaying rating only after > 5, found some positive intentions behind such concept.

Imagine you just added new product, and somebody bought it, and it happens that one particular customer was unhappy and made a jerk move to rate 1 or 2, when your product is actually 4 on average.
And now when people come searching, scrolling the page, see your product which is 1 of 5 and only single review. Quite a scary and risky to choose such a product, better just go safe and old school and select some another product where guy have already 50 reviews with 4.7 avg.

Second huge con of this that people can’t exploit artificial boost on start of their products. In marketplaces such as Epic Marketplace was people once publish new product, to make it more attractive and appealing, could simply buy their own product and rate it with a review, making it instantly have stars instead of new and empty.
Now you can’t really execute such a machination anymore. You place your new product to the marketplace, re-purchase it yourself with another account and rate it, and it won’t make any difference really.

So as you can see such an approach closes at least a few huge gaps in the concept of digital market.

Yes, that’s an interesting thought, but 1/5 without a comment isn’t much to sell, nor is it very meaningful. On the other hand, it would be nice to have access to our buyers’ e-mail so that we could ask them to rate us or notify them of major updates.

I think the most bad thing here is that the seller doesn’t have any visibility about the “partial rate”.
We are not able to see the current rates until we reach 5 rates.
This means that without any warning we could see 1 Star only when we receive 5 rates, so basically we could not understand the reason behind that because also the buyer can’t put comments (and most probably it is too late when we discover it).

I asked to support this and below is the response:

Currently it is not possible to see the ratings before you have 5 of them on your product. Here on support we have no visibility over if this is going to be updated in the future or not. We apologize since we are not able to give you more information, but thank you for your understanding and patience.

I hope there will be a change on this.
I like the idea of 5 rate (even if I would decrease it to 3 instead of 5) Just to give more hope to new sellers.

I like to provide the best quality assets\plugin to buyers and I afraid that this mechanism could “break” the ‘feedback’ concept that is behind every single software\plugin. They are really really important to improve the assets and everything about the marketplace contents.

So basically:

  • no comment from byers
  • no visibility about the rates until 5 rate

I hope this will change in some way in the next near future because this could break the quality of assets.
The concept is simple:
More feedbacks → More improvements

In this way the seller\developers doesn’t have any tangible feedback and should wait 5 rate to see something.

Thank you.

I didnt read the whole thread, sorry when I get it wrong BUT if you say that we need 5 ratings, that’s incorrect - one of my newer Product has since ~3 days far more than 5 ratings, but sadly nothing is displayed on the Product Page :')
