Ram usage goes from 1gb to 7gb and crashes

Since 4.10 I have the problem of strange high ram usage which is too much for my 8gb ram PC. I basically only edit the player character BP in a very simple level which only a few assets in it. Yet over the course of ca 30 to 60 min it goes up to 7gb ram usage which is too much since windows also needs some ram, it stops then responding and I have to kill the UE4 process. First I thought it would be just a exception but it keeps happening. I only updated a project to 4.10 yesterday and have it since then.

Hello,

I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in clean project?
  2. If so, could you provide a detailed list of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
  3. Could you provide screen shots of any blueprints that may be involved with this issue?
  4. Could you provide the complete callstack that is given when you experience your crash?

I tried now using 4.9 instead and the same thing happened. For both I migrated the first person example player BP of that particular version to my project and edited that. I had a heavy lag, saw that it was using 6gb and then quickly closed the player bp, it then slowly recovered to 1gb ram usage. So I guess there is something wrong with BP editing or it has to do with that migrated BP in particular.

Hello,

Additional questions:

  1. When you say: " I tried now using 4.9 instead and the same thing happened. For both I migrated the first person example player BP of that particular version to my project and edited that.", does this mean that you have only been able to reproduce this issue in your project?
  2. If so, does this mean that you cannot reproduce this issue in a clean project?
  3. Would it be possible for you to provide a zipped down version of your project so that I might take a closer look?
  4. Could you also provide the complete call stack for the crash?
