Hello - I’m new to Unreal and Quixel so please forgive me if the topic has already been discussed. I have the plugin for Quixel installed in UE 5.5 but when I come to use the assets I get a blue ‘Subscribe’ button appear at the bottom of the screen. I have logged into both the Epic Game Launcher and Quixel/Fab pages but I can’t seem to use the content - can anyone enlighten me?
What type of bug are you experiencing?
Plugins
Steps to Reproduce
Click on ‘Create’ button in UE
Click Quixel Bridge
Select a Free asset (3D Model)
Try to drag it into my scene
Click subscribe button bu t this just takes me to the website where I am already subscribed.
Same with another bug with the popup for the unlimited version. Which open it everytime that i open quixel bridge in the editor even when i accepted it
@tegookart can you check in account settings the plan you’re on and are you seeing the Subscribe button for assets that are in your Acquired/Purchased tab?
Yes same probleme, the blue subscribe button, and the contextual licence show everytime i launch bridge, impossible to use, someone have an idea?
EDIT. Okay, I hadn’t been following Bridge’s progress, but it seems obsolete if you didn’t check the right tickbox at the time. I wonder what it’s still doing there.
Same here. Although I have Quixel account properly linked to Unreal account but everytine I access to Quixel Bridge, system asks me to agree with content license and to download and updated version via launcher (that is not real since I have the most updated one).
In case it helps, I have this issue with UE 5.6 installed from the scratch (previous versions of UE5 had been used before since I was user of UE4.26)
See attached some screenshots in case that it supports with investigation.
On the other hand, FAB is working fine but it is much less user friendly is much less integrated with UE 5.6 and require more time to look for the appropiate assest.
To answer what I understand. If, like me, you haven’t followed the changes between your last use of Quixel and January. The free aspect is no longer free, unless you took the time to recover the assets you had or, as I understand it, accepted a license for existing users at the right time. Quixel is now obsolete. Everything has been unified under Fab. There are still a few free assets, but most of them are now paid. If I understand correctly. That said, it’s not very expensive for textures, which to me seems like the holy grail.
I imagine that their next goal is to integrate Fab into UE and deactivate Quixel.
Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s what I understand.
Yes, the UE5.6 documentation still states that the Unreal Unlimited Plan remains valid, and the Quixel Bridge plugin still indicates that all assets are unrestricted for use within the Engine. However, for developers after January 1, 2025, only scattered free assets are available, lacking attention and benefits. It seems Epic might be trying to make it harder for beginners.
