I’ve noticed a growing trend where many users are using scripts to acquire all the free assets from Quixel Megascans, following the recent announcement that in 2025 these assets will be part of the paid offerings in the new FAB platform. Epic Games has stated that assets obtained prior to this transition will remain owned by the users who acquired them.
However, I wonder if this strategy makes sense. It seems like it might create an unfair advantage, where “savvy” users are rushing to grab all the currently free resources, while those who don’t do so by 2025 will have to pay for the same assets.
Could you clarify if this is Epic Games’ intention, or if there are plans to ensure a fair transition for users who might not be aware of this situation? It feels a bit unbalanced that only those who act now will retain access to what is currently free content.
Thank you for your time and for providing clarification.
Hi @Lluis_P . Good question. In 2025, Quixel will continue to offer some free content, publish new assets, and more.
In the meantime, we’re doing our best to spread the word so that anybody who might want free Megascans is aware that they’re available and knows where to get them before the promotional period ends.
Epic removed Megascans from the engine and I had a bug in all the content I created using Megascans, I had the textures removed from my Megascans assets, causing the assets to be without the textures, even though the texture files are present, this damaged all my work of months. And I don’t know how to make the correct connections of these textures. This is a lack of respect for the developers, if you are going to charge for them, don’t get in the way of what has already been achieved by the developers.
@f43io123, If you’re referring to “Megascans” in Unreal Engine Markplace>Free. The link was broken; however, it has been fixed. If you’re still experiencing issues, please reach out for support on this web form.
