Question about object scale

Hi all, I’m total noob when it comes to UE, so sorry about the stupidity of the question. Hopefully this is the noobster section of the forum!

Could somebody explain how does the object scaling work in UE? If I’m creating a blank scene which contains floor (SM_Template_Map_Floor mesh), that has the scale of 1.0 x 10. x 1.0 (XYZ), and if I then create a new Plane mesh, which has the same scale… the plane is much smaller than the floor?

I learned that I can measure things in orthographic view, by holding down the middle mouse button and dragging, and I noticed that the floor has a the size of 1000 and the plane 100…cm?

Only explanation that I can think of is that the person who created those objects, have decided that the objects default size, with scaling 1.0 is 1000 and 100 cm?

A bit confused user here!

Buildings ( for instance ), are all sorts of different sizes. But they are all scale 1.

It just means the size in units of the plane is not the same as the size of the floor.
