Hello,
I am an independent developer currently developing a competitive multiplayer game called “Janken Po”, based on the classic Rock-Paper-Scissors game.
I would like to ask about the eligibility and publishing requirements for a game with the following structure:
- The game is a 1v1 competitive Rock-Paper-Scissors game.
- Players purchase the game once; there are no additional entry fees or purchases required to participate in the tournament.
- The tournament takes place after the sales/pre-registration period has ended, and no new players can enter once the tournament begins.
- The tournament is a single-elimination bracket.
- Matches are best-of-three.
- The winner of the tournament would receive a cash prize funded from the game’s revenue.
- The prize would be awarded by the developer according to the published tournament rules.
- There would be no betting, wagering, loot boxes, or random paid outcomes.
- Players compete directly against other human players; there is no AI opponent in the competitive tournament.
Before continuing development and finalizing the monetization and tournament systems, I would like to confirm:
- Would a game with this structure be eligible for distribution on the Epic Games Store?
- Are cash prizes awarded to tournament winners permitted under Epic Games Store policies?
- Are there any specific legal, regional, age-rating, payment, or publishing requirements that I would need to satisfy?
- Would Epic Games require any additional approval or review before the game could be published?
I am asking for guidance before implementing the final tournament and monetization systems so that the game can comply with Epic Games Store policies from the beginning.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Kind regards,
Janken Po Development Team
