So, i’ve been on the struggle bus to figure something out. I have a bunch of animations: Jump landing, unsheath, sheath, etc. When i perform these animations my characters feet lock up and they glide across the level like they are on skates. This stops as soon as the animation finishes which is good but i was wondering if there was a way to prevent the gliding and have my characters legs continue to move while the upper half of the body is performing the animations.
This sounds to me as if you’d like to play an animation, or maybe even a montage in a specific socket. You can define from which bone sockets are going to play so most likely you’ll want a socket for the upper body and play a montage in that socket?
For the actual creation of the sockets, you’ll need to add them to your skeleton-mesh’s animation blueprint. I think Epic once made a tutorial about that, where they explained how you e.g. play a punch animation while your char is running. You might want to look that up, since it also explains how cached poses / animation-blends work.
