I’m using Reality Capture with a rig of many stationary cameras to reconstruct varying objects.
For the Process of optimizing my setup, I’m looking for some Figure of Merits to benchmark my alignment/reconstruction quality.
I think I looked up all the tutorials RC provides, like Tutorial: How to check the quality of the alignment and reconstruction process
but since I’m dealing with a lot of scans I need some values for automated evaluation and can not look at the end result or inspection tool., but make use of the CLI.
The alignment is already pretty good, so I’m not dealing with counting the cameras in the component, they are usually all there.
One figure of merit I use is the track length and the number of tie points.
Here are some questions:
Does anybody know a better figure of merit to get a quality of the result without inspecting the result yourself?
In the reports I found the “misalignment.html”. When I export the misalignment the misalignment of each point reads “0”. Can I change some settings to get a real answer here?
in the inspection tool, one can display the uncertainty of each tie point. Is there a way to export this uncertainty?
Any answer or other idea would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Hi @KlartRu,
regarding the exports quality you can check the reports which are created if some will be good for you.
If not, there is an option to create your own report with needed parameters: RealityCapture Help
But basically, you can set some test points and GCPs over your datasets and check the expected and needed result.
This just shows if the point is misaligned or not. I suppose it is part of some other process inside RealityCapture and you can get only 0 or 1 value there. So, basically none misaligned point
For your case is the better way to use Overview report or Registration and Georeferencing accuracy report.
What do you mean by “Overall report Report Registration”?
I used the “selected components tie point stats” but the reprojection error is basically not changing, even though the model quality changes.
in the inspection tool, one can display the uncertainty of each tie point. Is there a way to export this uncertainty?
