ProRes video with alpha channel for widget not working

Animated a text sequence in After Effects to roll in when a pause widget is to be called. Video registers and plays fine in the Media Player. Import successful.

Widget BP is set up correctly to play animation, now here’s where I’m not sure where the disconnect is:

Material: no matter what variety of connections to color/opacity, it shows a white screen as the material. Widget designer reflects that preview in material, all white. Call widget while playing in viewport, ALL WHITE.

Apple ProRes plugin enabled, video exported as ProRes4444 (incl alpha channel)

An update for any other lost souls come across this post: Tried PNG sequence and getting the same results just in an all black screen

I use HAP Media plugin from standard plugins and use .mov with HAP encoding. Perfect alpha result and performance

all white usually means the material isnt using the alpha channel as opacity, or youre on wrong blend mode. make sure material is Translucent and you plug MediaTexture alpha into Opacity, not just color. also check your export is actually prores 4444 with alpha (not 422). i had same headache and just switched to alpha video player from fab Alpha Video Player - Transparent Video UMG Widget & UI Media Component (UE5) | Fab — it handles prores/webm/hap alpha and has blend modes (alpha composite vs blend vs additive) so you dont wire the material by hand, just set blend mode in the widget. also has fit/fill and poster image while loading
